Sheridan rues missed goal

Chesterfield boss John Sheridan felt it was two points dropped after Steve Schumacher's late equaliser gave Bury a 1-1 draw at Gigg Lane.

The resurgent Spireites looked set for their third win in four league games after former Bury loanee Nicky Ajose gave them a 42nd-minute lead with his first goal while on loan from Peterborough. But with just two minutes left, Schumacher headed home to give the Shakers a deserved draw. The point was enough to edge Chesterfield above Rochdale at the bottom of npower League One, but that was scant consolation for Sheridan. "It hurts," he said. "We're in a position where we have to win games and that was a great opportunity. It was there for the taking. "We played well first half, our shape was good and we caused them problems. I thought it was a real professional job, so it's disappointing not to win it. "They put us under pressure the last 20 minutes, but that was through ourselves. We got sloppy, people started doing the wrong things and making the wrong decisions. We need to learn how to see games out, but there's only so much I can do. People have got to take responsibility."
