Di Canio fumes at ref's display

Manager Paolo Di Canio was left furious with the performance of referee Carl Berry as Swindon lost 1-0 at Dagenham.

Berry denied the Robins a penalty in the first half when Raffaele De Vita appeared to be fouled by Scott Doe, then in the second half a penalty decision went against his side as Paul Caddis was penalised for a foul on Gavin Tomlinn which Daggers captain Mark Arber converted. "Don't ask me anything about the referee because otherwise I'll go to prison for one year," said the Italian. "It was absolutely incredible what's happened. De Vita is in front of the goal, then the player tackles him from behind without touching the ball, he took both legs with a nasty tackle, it should have been a penalty and a red card. But we didn't deserve to win in the first half. "Their penalty, it was incredible. Paul Caddis flicked the ball two yards wide from the opponent and he dived, like in a swimming pool, it's incredible he receives a yellow card. "It was a bad, bad day for the referee, but anyway we should have played better before, but even on a bad day if you deserve to have a penalty you should have. Even with the way we have played in my opinion we didn't deserve a point because we should have played much better."
