Swindon Town have shelved their interest in Andy Burgess after Rushden & Diamonds asked for Rory Fallon in exchange.

Robins manager Andy King had enquired about the availability of Rushden midfielder Burgess as he looks to strengthen his engine room.

But his Rushden counterpart Ernie Tippett responded to King's interest by demanding striker Fallon in return.

King admits he has no intention of letting Fallon leave The County Ground, particularly as he has established himself in the first team.

Instead, the Robins chief has opted to abandon his pursuit of Burgess in order to keep Fallon on the books.

"I have spoken to their manager quietly about Burgess but they wanted to swap him for Fallon," said King.

"He wanted a striker and I like Burgess but I've just brought Christian Roberts in as a third striker so why would I let another one go?

"I don't know if Fallon would want to go to a League Two club."
