Parkin happy at Swindon

Swindon star Sam Parkin has pledged his future to the club, insisting he has no plans to quit The County Ground.

The 22-year-old has attracted the interest of a number of top clubs after an impressive start to the season with Swindon.

Swindon are keen to tie Parkin down to a new long-term deal to ward off potential suitors and the highly-rated striker is ready to put pen-to-paper.

"As far as I am aware, the package has been agreed and I'm delighted about that," said Parkin. "It's just a case of my agent and Mark Devlin getting together, me having a look at the final draft following that meeting and hopefully getting the papers signed."

Parkin, who had a spell at Chelsea before moving to Swindon, admitted he is in no rush to leave Swindon as he believes he can enjoy success at the Division Two outfit.

"I see the expressions of the lads here who find themselves out of the first team for whatever reason for a short period. At Chelsea I had to face up to life in the reserves on a regular basis," added Parkin.

"I came to Swindon, the manager made it clear he saw me as part of the team he wanted to build, the goals have come for me and the reaction and support from the fans has been overwhelming.

"The gaffer has brought in players like Tommy Mooney over the summer to further strengthen things and there is a desire and a belief to push on to a higher level.

"I want to achieve that here and I'd be a mug not to want to extend my contract."
