The Robins boss placed special emphasis on adding experience to his squad, particularly in the frontline, despite receiving good news that top scorer Sam Parkin does not require an operation on his injured knee.
After he underwent tests, Parkin was told that no keyhole surgery would be necessary and instead has been ordered to rest and undertake light training to cure the problem.
County Ground boss King though insists he lacks sufficient cover in key areas and will look to bring people in short or long-term to keep the Wiltshire club in contention for a play-off place.
"We have done extremely well so far and are only three points behind the team in second, but I haven't got a squad blessed with experience in all areas," he told the Evening Advertiser.
"Whether it's getting people in on loan or bringing them in permanently, now is the time to do it, particularly with regards to a striker.
"At the moment we are not able to sufficiently cover the holes we have. What I am saying is that I need to move now to keep us in the position we're in."
