SWINDON TOWN have finally completed the signing of Chelsea striker Sam Parkin.

Parkin, who spent last year with Northampton Town, has finally been given the green light by the Football League to move to The County Ground.

The Football League had demanded that Swindon could prove they could afford Parkin before ratifying the deal.

The Robins threatened legal action if the deal was not completed before Saturday's opening game against Barnsley, but now the transfer has been done after the league gave its approval.

"We are delighted to finally have Sam Parkin on board," said Robins chief executive Mark Devlin.

"The striker has been a major target for Andy King and we have all seen what the lad is capable of in pre-season, it is just great news for everyone with just two days to go until the game against Barnsley."

Meanwhile, young goalkeeper Craig Farr has signed a new one-year contract.
