Macc bring in Wednesday keeper

Macclesfield have signed goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell from Sheffield Wednesday on a 28-day emergency loan.

They 23-year-old came through the youth ranks at Hillsborough and has made 20 appearances for the Owls since his debut against Southampton in March 2011. O'Donnell last played for Wednesday on Boxing Day in the 2-1 defeat at Walsall and is now Gary Megson's third choice keeper behind Stephen Bywater and Nicky Weaver. He has previously enjoyed loan spells at York, Rotherham, Oldham and Grimsby and is eligible for the Silkmen's trip to Oxford on Saturday. O'Donnell will provide cover for injured duo Jose Veiga and Steve Collis - the latter sustaining a shoulder injury in training on Friday morning having rejoined the Silkmen to provide cover for thigh victim Veiga on Thursday evening. The loan will expire on March 22.
