Coleman praises players

John Coleman insists the players must take the credit after a 3-0 derby victory over Bury lifted Rochdale off the bottom of League One.

Coleman took charge of a demoralised Dale squad earlier in the week and orchestrated the club's first win in 10 games to breathe life into their fight for survival. Jean Louis Akpa Akpro and a brace from Ashley Grimes - his first goals since October 1 - handed the home side a comfortable win against a disappointing Shakers side. "People will look at the situation and say 'oh, it's a new manager coming in that's made the difference,"' said Coleman. "But the players have worked really hard building up to the game and they should take all the credit. It's all down to the players, they are the ones who performed magnificently and they should take all the plaudits. "Just focus on the how good the players were because some of the football they played was terrific. "Everything we have set our teams up to do over the years - play a high tempo game, press the opposition and believe in ourselves - we had all of that in abundance. If they carry on playing like that we'll achieve safety and all the credit will go to the players again."
