Derby weekend in Sheffield, while Addicks look to extend lead

The Steel City derby takes centre stage in League One this weekend, but before that there are 11 fixtures on Saturday. Sheffield's arch-rivals meet on Sunday, by which time Charlton and Huddersfield will hope to have extended their unbeaten starts to the season. Sheffield United welcome cross-city neighbours Sheffield Wednesday to Bramall Lane with both sides riding high in the table, but it is the Owls who are currently on a four-match winning run and occupying a top-two standing. Only Charlton are keeping them from the summit, with the Addicks looking to negotiate a 13th fixture unscathed this weekend when they go to Stevenage - who have lost four on the bounce. Huddersfield are the only other side in League One yet to come unstuck this season and they will fancy their chances of maintaining that momentum when they travel to rock-bottom Exeter. Karl Robinson's MK Dons have picked up only one win in six and will want to address that recent wobble when they play host to lowly Bournemouth. Preston's run of seven straight victories came to an end last time out, but they can start another winning streak on Saturday when they go to out-of-sorts Walsall.

Progress

Notts County have edged into the top six over recent weeks and make the short journey to Chesterfield in their latest fixture. Back-to-back defeats have halted Hartlepool's progress and they will be keen to get back to winning ways at home to Wycombe. Brentford remain on the fringes of the play-off places and could re-join the promotion-chasing pack with victory over Scunthorpe. Colchester have suffered only one defeat in eight outings, meaning a trip to Rochdale will hold no fear. Tranmere and Oldham are locked together in mid-table and go head-to-head at Prenton Park on Saturday. Leyton Orient have won their last two to clamber off the bottom of the division and will be looking to push on when they entertain Bury. The final fixture on a busy weekend of third tier action sees Carlisle make a 700-mile round journey to Yeovil.
