Gray, Lescott, Lancashire and Bevan pen Walsall deals

Walsall have strengthened their squad ahead of the new League One campaign with four new signings. Saddlers boss Chris Hutchings has brought in Julian Gray, Aaron Lescott, Oliver Lancashire and David Bevan all on one-year deals. Winger Gray spent the end of last season with the Saddlers having been released by Barnsley while defender Lescott arrives at the club following six seasons with Bristol Rovers. Joining the pair are Lancashire, who was released by Southampton at the end of last season, and promising keeper Bevan, who came through the ranks as Aston Villa. Hutchings is pleased to have sealed the deal for all four players and believes the quartet will prove useful additions to his squad.

Delighted

"I'm delighted to have signed these four players," Hutchings told the club's official website. "They all bring their own qualities. "Julian is well-known to our supporters from his spell here last season. He knows what we are all about and we know what he is capable of. "He's a player of proven ability who gives us another dimension. He'll be a lot fitter this year with a full pre-season behind him and I am looking forward to working with him. "Aaron has lots of experience; he is a versatile player who can fill a number of different roles. He has plenty of games under his belt and this know-how will be vital to us. "Oliver is a young lad who we have been monitoring for some time. He has showed plenty of promise whilst coming through the ranks at Southampton and we have had some good reports on him. "I am pleased to have him on board as he will add competition in the central defensive position. "David meanwhile has good credentials. He is an emerging young keeper who has had a good grounding at Aston Villa and will fight hard for the No.1 spot."
