Glen Little and Julian Gray are to discover later this week whether they will be offered deals by Sheffield United.
Former Reading winger Little was released by Portsmouth earlier this summer following an unspectacular season at Fratton Park.
Gray is also a free agent after leaving Fulham at the end of last month, and both players have been training with the Blades.
They figured in the 2-0 friendly win over Chesterfield at Saltergate and Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell is considering his options.
"They have been a credit while with us and I expect to make a decision on them by the end of the week, but of course they will be the first to know," said Blackwell.
"In any event I'm hopeful of bringing three or four players in very soon."
