Defender leaves Tranmere for Bramall Lane

Sheffield United have completed the signing of defender Andy Taylor from Tranmere for an undisclosed fee. Skysports.com revealed on Tuesday that Taylor was undergoing a medical with the South Yorkshire outfit and discussing personal terms. New Rovers boss John Barnes accepted the offer from the Blades and is now looking to bring in reinforcements ahead of the new season. Taylor, 22, moved permanently to Prenton Park from Blackburn in January 2008 following an initial loan spell. Barnes said: "It was a good offer from Sheffield United and we decided to allow Andy the chance to move to a higher level. "We're still looking to add to our squad ahead of the season and are talking to a number of clubs about both loan and permanent deals." Taylor added: "I really enjoyed my time at Tranmere but this move was a great opportunity for me."
