Walsall youngster Alex Nicholls has been farmed out to Burton Albion on a month's loan.

The 19-year-old will join the Conference side as they bid to break into the play-offs in the remaining 15 games of the season.

Nicholls signed a one-year deal in the summer and will be hoping to impress Saddlers boss Richard Money during his loan spell with Burton.

"Alex is a talented player but I do not feel the time is right to bring him into our first team," said Money.

"I am sure he will enjoy getting regular first-team football and a spell away will be beneficial for everyone concerned and we will monitor his progress."

Nicholls goes straight into Burton's squad for their key game against fifth-placed Exeter on Saturday.
