RAITH ROVERS are close to signing Walsall's promising young striker Karl Hawley on loan.

Manager Antonio Calderon is keen to sign the 20-year-old before the transfer window closes and the deal is expected to be finalised within the next 48 hours.

Walsall boss Colin Lee (pictured) does not want to sell Hawley but feels first team action could aid his development and is willing to let the striking ace leave for Rovers.

Hawley trained at Stark's Park last week and the Raith hierarchy were very impressed by what they saw of the youngster.

Hawley has plundered the goals in the youth and reserve teams and is seen as one of the main talents for the future at the Bescot Stadium.
