Same problems frustrate Murray

Paul Murray claimed his efforts are falling on 'deaf ears' after bottom-of-the-table Hartlepool lost to League Two leaders Wycombe.

Five games into his tenure, Murray is still without a first league victory after his side lost 3-1 at Victoria Park. With the match played in wet and greasy conditions, you would have done well to distinguish between top and bottom of the table. However, Wycombe attacked Hartlepool's Achilles heel and took a 3-0 lead as goals from Paris Cowan-Hall and Alfie Mawson sandwiched a low finish from Matt Bloomfield. And despite a consolation from Marlon Harewood, the home side were resigned to their 13th league defeat of the season. Murray said: "It was not really a game of top versus bottom but they did not make many mistakes and we caught ourselves out with individual errors again, a problem we have had all season. "We have worked on a lot of stuff that has fallen on deaf ears. Wycombe had reliability and hardly made any errors besides the penalty [missed by Neil Austin with Pools 1-0 behind]." A visibly frustrated Murray added: "We don't score many goals so we have to keep it at 1-1, providing we score the penalty, and then try to get one later in the game. "It is all about confidence and concentration." Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth was pleased his men did not take Hartlepool lightly. He said: "We did a professional job; you have to respect this club. "We have been there and we turned over the top of the league so we knew it was a potential banana skin." Ainsworth outlined the nature of the goals as significant to the victory. He added: "The timings of the goals were crucial but I also thought the goals were taken really well. "We are also getting a lot of goals from different positions which is exciting. Once we get to that safety mark I will talk about other things."
