Flitcroft targets Rose deal

Bury manager David Flitcroft wants to tie up a permanent deal for Danny Rose after he scored in the 2-0 win over Hartlepool.

Rose, recruited as an emergency loan signing on Friday having scored thrice in six games during a spell with the Shakers last season, came off the bench to net on his second debut for the club. The 20-year-old's goal added to Daniel Nardiello's first-half header as Bury claimed the spoils. And Flitcroft has now set his sights on making the deal permanent, saying: "We will work on it as a club on Monday and see if we can get the deal done. "I think the important thing was that we got him in for this game. We started working on the deal at eight o'clock Friday morning and got it done after seven at night. We worked hard on the deal." The manager also basked in a "perfect" day, although he believes there is still plenty of room for improvement. "I don't think I could have asked for much more," admitted Flitcroft. "We totally dominated the game for the first 20 minutes and to keep a clean sheet is nice. "A clean sheet; Danny Rose scoring; plus the first goal was sublime. It was great to see a goal like that in League Two. "I want to dominate teams for longer spells than we did. Hartlepool threw a lot of bodies forward and at times you have to cope with that. We will get better too; there is no doubt about that." Flitcroft's emotions were in stark contrast to those felt by opposite number Colin Cooper. The Pools boss was left to rue a third defeat in seven days following a 1-0 loss to Stevenage last weekend and 6-2 Capital One Cup hammering at the hands of Port Vale on Tuesday. Cooper put his side's poor form down to a lack of cutting edge in front of goal, with Darren Holden, Luke James and Marlon Harewood all spurning golden chances. He said: "There was not much in the game but you look at the half-chances and you just think that we need to do better. We remain frustrated. "Football is about decision-making and it's something we have spoken about a lot. But when we're getting into those positions, we're not doing that." Cooper is now understandably keen to spark a turnaround, starting with Tuesday's visit of Dagenham. He said: "Our next challenge is Dagenham at home on Tuesday night and we will be working hard to be better. "I have told the players to bring everything they can to the game on Tuesday and hopefully we can get our season up and running. "There is not point in feeling sorry for ourselves. We have got to roll our sleeves up and get ready for Tuesday."
