James eyes fresh start

Hartlepool teenager Luke James hopes to steer clear of injury as the club look to return to League One at the first attempt.

James burst on to the first-team scene at Victoria Park two months after his 17th birthday during the 2011/12 season when he scored in his fifth appearance for the club against Rochdale. But after recovering from a back injury last summer, the 18-year-old's progress was further halted when he had surgery to resolve a double hernia problem in October. "It's been frustrating for me at times over the last couple of seasons," James told the club's official website. "I've not had loads of injuries, I just seem to get one and it goes on for a while. "Hopefully now I can wipe the slate clean, have no injuries and put that all behind me so I can just concentrate on my football. "I have a few targets in mind, but I wouldn't like to say too much because I'll be disappointed if I don't make them. "One that I am not afraid to say is that I don't want to get injured, I just so desperately don't want to get injured."
