Sheridan has that sinking feeling

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan labelled his team a relegation side after their fifth straight defeat, going down 3-2 to Hartlepool.

Hartlepool ended a three-match losing run despite Leon Clarke giving Chesterfield the lead with his 50th League goal. The Pool deservedly took the points through Paul Murray's header and James Poole's double. Sheridan made no excuses for a result that leaves his team in the bottom four and admitted: "We didn't deserve anything from the game, it was a very, very poor performance. "We shot ourselves in the foot with two very poor goals, we take our foot of the pedal and too many players are doing the wrong things and apart from (Alex) Mendy, no one comes out with any credit. "I said a few things to them at half-time, but we go out two minutes later and concede another shambolic goal on our part and then we've got a mountain to climb. "People were making the wrong decisions and I think we played like a team that was going to get relegated looking at the body language out on the pitch and that should never happen. I don't mind getting beat as long as we do the right things, but we didn't do anything right."
