Boss proud as Reds show spirit

Accrington boss John Coleman was delighted with his 10-man side, who fought back from 2-0 down to draw with Plymouth.

Kevin Long and Padraig Amond were the Reds' heroes after Plymouth took the lead against the run of play through Simon Walton's 27th-minute penalty, following a Sean Hessey foul on teenage striker Matt Lecointe which resulted in a red card for the Stanley defender. And the visitors went further behind when Ladjie Soukouna latched on to a loose ball in the penalty area to fire home from 15 yards in first-half stoppage time. But Long and Amond scored after half time to earn a point for Accrington and leave Coleman ecstatic. "In the end we were the ones asking the questions. We had the most chances in the second half but fair play to Plymouth they took their chances when they got them," he said. "I tried to double-bluff the new boys at half time by telling them that we had lost the game. The ones that have been with me a long time know that's a ploy, the ones that haven't don't and I am looking to get a reaction from them - and I think I got the reaction I wanted in the second half. "We wanted to be more offensive, we wanted to get the ball in Plymouth's half and try and put them under pressure. I think we did that. We made a lot of chances and on another day we would have scored more than two."
