Pools to challenge FA charge

Hartlepool will contest a FA charge of misconduct served on both them and Bournemouth following their heated league clash.

Following last Saturday's league clash at the Seward Stadium the FA's disciplinary panel alleges both clubs "failed to ensure that its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion" and were involved in a "mass confrontation" after Pools midfielder Andy Monkhouse's 83rd-minute foul on Cherries defender Wayne Cummings. A Hartlepool statement read: "The club is amazed that it has been charged. "Having reviewed footage supplied by the FA, it clearly shows the Bournemouth players approaching the incident and causing the so-called 'mass confrontration' and the club intend to challenge the charge." Hartlepool won the game 2-1 to extend their unbeaten league run to nine games.
