Defender Peter Hartley is excited for the season ahead after Hartlepool returned to pre-season training on Friday.
The 23-year-old, who is starting his third season at Victoria Park, is particularly pleased with Pools' transfer activity over recent weeks.
He told the club's official website: "We are a club on the up. With the type of players we are signing, I think any team coming up against us will know they are going to get a test.
"The quality of the players we have signed is why we're all so encouraged."
Speaking about Nolberto Solano's high-profile arrival from Hull, Hartley added: "He's an absolute legend. He can only bring a wealth of experience to the team."
