Pools boss says there has been no interest in winger

Hartlepool United manager Chris Turner insists that in-form winger Andy Monkhouse will not be leaving the club this month. The ex-Rotherham United midfielder has been in excellent form this season, scoring eight goals along the way and is currently the club's joint top scorer this term. However, his performances have not gone unnoticed with a number of clubs linked with the 29-year-old, including Brighton & Hove Albion. Pools boss Turner has told skysports.com that no interest has been shown in any of his players to date and he expects Monkhouse to stay. "No, we've had no interest shown in any of our players and I don't think there will be much business this month because there isn't a lot of money in the Football League at the moment," said Turner. "The players that are doing well, such as Andy Monkhouse, will cost too much for clubs at this time of year. "He is doing exceptionally well this season and hopefully he will maintain that and end up with 15 or so goals to his name, which would be fantastic."

Fixtures hope

Hartlepool have played just once in the last three weeks after becoming one of the many clubs to fall victim to the cold snap this month, but Turner is confident that their home clash with MK Dons on Saturday will go ahead. He added: "There is no problem for our game at the weekend so far. The pitch is in perfect condition and all the snow has gone, so we are eager to get the game on. "However, the players may be a little rusty due the amount of matches that have been played recently. Every club in the country will be like that though. "The sides that have been in good form will have lost that momentum, whilst those who weren't doing so well will have had a chance to rest and get it out of their system."
