Midfielder seals deal to join Wednesday on a free transfer

Tommy Miller has signed for Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer after being released by Ipswich Town. The 30-year-old becomes the club's second summer signing after Darren Purse was snapped up following his departure from Cardiff City. The midfielder was a regular for the Tractor Boys this term but was judged to have been surplus to requirements by new manager Roy Keane. With more than 400 senior appearances to his name and 100 goals, Owls manager Brian Laws is obviously delighted with his capture. "Tommy Miller has a huge amount of Championship experience and is exactly the kind of player I am looking to bring to Sheffield Wednesday," he said.

Fits the bill

"I have made it clear we need to add experience to our squad and Tommy certainly fits that the bill. "He also has the ability to go with that experience and a massive drive to succeed. I am delighted to welcome him to the club." The Owls finished in mid-table in the Championship standings this season and Laws will be looking for his side to make a serious push for the play-offs next term.
