The Football Association have rescinded the red card Hartlepool's Jon Daly received in the 2-1 defeat to Chester.

The 22-year-old striker was adjudged by referee Andy Woolmer to have elbowed Chester defender David Artell.

Pools boss Danny Wilson felt the decision to give Daly his marching orders was harsh, and the club submitted an appeal to have the red card overturned.

The appeal has been successful and Daly is now looking forward to the prospect of playing against local rivals Darlington on Saturday.

"I knew as soon as it happened that I had done nothing wrong and I was shocked to see the red card come out," Daly told Hartlepool's official website.

"I would have been gutted to be ruled out of the game on Saturday.

"It's one of the biggest games of the season for us, the fans will be there in their numbers and it's a massive day for them."
