Walsall remain top of League Two despite being held 1-1 by Shrewsbury at Gay Meadow.
Tony Bedeau fired The Saddlers in front after just five minutes, before Neil Sorvel (28) levelled for the home side.
Neither side could find a killer blow in the second half, leaving Walsall to sweat on the result of Wycombe's clash against Swindon.
With Richard Money's side drawing, victory for either would have taken them to the summit of the table, but they had to settle for a 1-1 draw after a dramatic late equaliser.
Swindon took the lead after 51 minutes through Royce Brownlie, only for former Robin Tommy Mooney to return to haunt his old club deep into stoppage time.
Milton Keynes Dons staged a remarkable second half comeback to beat Torquay 3-2 at The National Hockey Stadium.
Jamie Ward opened up a two-goal advantage for The Gulls (8 and 45), but Izale McLeod (pictured) responded in kind with a brace of his own (50 and 59). The turnaround was clinched six minutes from time by Aaron Wilbraham.
High-flying Notts County also kept up the pressure at the top with a 1-0 victory over Stockport, Junior Mendes (40) grabbing the goal.
At the bottom, Macclesfield were denied their first win of the campaign against Chester when Kevin Sandwith's strike (61) cancelled out Martin Bullock's finish. (10)
Struggling Bury drew 2-2 against Accrington. Andy Bishop (7 and 36) scored twice for The Shakers, but Gary Roberts (12) and Romuald Boco (37) both found the target for Accrington.
There was another draw at London Road, where Andy Hessenthaler (46) rescued a point for Barnet after Peterborough had taken opened the scoring courtesy of Peter Gain (35).
Hartlepool made it nine goals from their last two away games with a crushing 4-1 victory at Grimsby.
Nick Fenton actually scored first for Grimsby (16), before Hartlepool came storming back through Jon Daly (45 and 85), Gary Liddle (52) and Joel Porter (90)
In the day's final game, a Danny Reet strike after 59 minutes secured a 1-0 win for Mansfield against Darlington.
