Hartlepool have been handed a blow with news of an injury to Gavin Strachan.

The influential midfielder now faces being sidelined for the next six weeks having fractured his fibula at the weekend.

Strachan was caught by a tackle from Blackpool's Neil Wood, that resulted in a red card, but was able to play on despite the injury.

It was only after the game that the full extent of the knock became apparent, with Pools boss Martin Scott conceding that he felt the worst immediately upon seeing the challenge.

"We knew at the time it was a bad tackle," Scott told the club's official website.

"In fact we were saying on the bench that it looked a leg-breaker and unfortunately that's what's happened.

"It's another bitter blow for us obviously and we need to get Gavin back as soon as possible.

"That's the way it's going with injuries at the moment and it's not easy."
