Football League play-offs: All the action live on Sky Sports

Gary Hooper: Celebrates his late winner at Bolton

The regular Football League season is over, but for 12 clubs, the dream of promotion goes on.

And you can watch all the drama unfold live on Sky Sports, as we bring you every kick of the play-offs, including the three finals at Wembley.

The action kicks off on Thursday as Nigel Clough's Sheffield United host Swindon on Sky Sports 2 looking to return to the Championship, four years since being relegated from the second tier.

Both sides rather stumbled across the line, failing to win any of their last five games and will be hoping to rediscover their form quickly with a Wembley appearance at stake.

Twenty points separated Chesterfield and Preston in the final league table but they are back on level pegging when they meet in the second of the League One play-offs on Thursday evening before the return leg at Deepdale on Sunday lunchtime.

Preston would look to be the clear favourites having finished so far ahead of their rivals. However, things are rarely so straightforward in the play-offs and having just missed out on automatic promotion on the final day, the pressure will be on Simon Grayson to pick his players up and end a hoodoo that has seen North End lose all NINE previous attempts at the play-offs.

Brentford manager Mark Warburton saw his side enter the Championship play-offs with a 3-0 win against relegated Wigan

The focus turns to the Championship on Friday as Brentford welcome Middlesbrough to Griffin Park. The game will be Bees manager Mark Warburton’s last home game in charge with the club having already announced that he will leave at the end of the season.

Boro were in the hunt for automatic promotion right up until the penultimate weekend of the season and Aitor Karanka’s side will hope they can put the disappointment of missing out them by reaching Wembley.

Next up is the East-Anglia derby between Ipswich and Norwich at Portman Road on Saturday with the return leg taking place a week later. Mick McCarthy's side were beaten at Blackburn on the final day but still sneaked into the top six after Derby’s capitulation at home to Reading while Norwich beat Fulham to move up to third.

Alex Neil has earned much praise since taking over at Carrow Road and victory over their local rivals in the play-offs would only add to reputation amongst Canaries.
