Sky Sports News HQ presenters Jim White and Natalie Sawyer swapped autocues for tills as they manned a unique pound shop on behalf of Football League sponsors Sky Bet.

The east London store opened as part of the Sky Bet Transfer Fund initiative that gives any fan of a Sky Bet Football League side the opportunity to win £250,000 for their club to spend on new players in the January transfer window.

Members of the public entering the shop were able to pick-up basic goods like bread, milk and eggs and trade them in for match-day tickets, signed merchandise and free bets.

White said: “Milk - £1, eggs - £1, bread - £1, footballer - £1! The Sky Bet Transfer Fund really is an absolute no brainer for fans who like to have a bet! Don’t worry if you didn’t make it down to our Pound Shop; there’s still plenty of time for you to make a real difference to your club in the January transfer window and all it takes is a £1 bet!”

As well as giving their club’s spending power a boost in the January transfer window the selected fan will also take home a cash prize of £5,000.
