Chris Lewington - Dagenham & Redbridge
Dagenham may have won away at Bristol Rovers this weekend, but it was a smash-and-grab victory, and owed much to the performance of Lewington. The goalkeeper made an incredible triple save after 15 minutes to deny Oliver Norburn and David Clarkson, and then made more impressive stops during the second half as Dagenham held on.
Will Antwi - AFC Wimbledon
Antwi gained deserved plaudits for his performance against MK Dons in the FA Cup, and he carried on where he left off this weekend. The full-back enjoys supporting his side in attack, but also had to be at his defensive best as Aldershot attacked his side during the second half, before Wimbledon's late equaliser gained a point.
Kevin Nicholson - Torquay United
Nicholson is an unheralded lower league performer, and gains his place despite Torquay's defeat to Bradford. After the sending off of captain Brian Saah, the Gulls were forced to defend with backs to the wall for large periods of the game. Nicholson defended admirably but his side were finally beaten by a late wonder-strike from Alan Connell.
Onismor Bhasera - Plymouth Argyle
Plymouth were able to end a run of nine games without a win (eight defeats) and 18 matches without a clean sheet during their victory over York this weekend, and the strength of Zimbabwean Bhasera was key to the win. Named the Pilgrims' Player of the Month for September, the defender ensured that fans could finally hope to begin moving up the table.
Scott Doe - Dagenham & Redbridge
Dagenham goalkeeper Chris Lewington has already received plaudits for his performance, but defender Doe was also vital in the side's clean sheet. His team-mate Ogogo made the team last week, and this time out Doe was the man responsible for last-ditch tackles and blocks as Dagenham survived the onslaught.
Jay O'Shea - Chesterfield
What better way to mark your debut for your new loan club than by scoring the first goal against one of your former teams? O'Shea, who is comfortable operating on the wing or as a forward, took a pass from Marc Richards and fired low into the right corner from 15 yards. Chesterfield will hope it is just the start from the MK Dons man.
Darren Carter - Cheltenham Town
The former West Brom and Birmingham midfielder is still just 28, nearing the end of a six-month contract with Cheltenham, and on Saturday scored his fourth goal for the club. He netted from close range after fine work from Chris Zebrowski, and then picked out substitute Darryl Duffy with a fine pass to score the winner.
Adam Chapman - Oxford United
Chapman was expected to lose his place in the Oxford side on Saturday, but Chris Wilder kept faith in the midfielder, and this was justified when Chapman drilled home from outside the area to give his side the lead.
John O'Flynn - Exeter City
The forward has struggled for goals somewhat since his arrival from Barnet in 2010, but on Saturday acted as the poacher by being in the right place at the right time to bag two match-winning goals. Both were from close range after the Rochdale defence failed to cut out a cross, and O'Flynn also headed an assist for Exeter's opener.
Dean Morgan - Wycombe Wanderers
Morgan can play on the wing or up front, but will push for keeping a striker's berth after his double came close to giving his side the points at home to Morecambe. His first was from the edge of the area, and he then added his second from close range. Unfortunately for Morgan, Wycombe couldn't hold on with 10 men after Joel Grant's red card for a poor challenge.
Deon Burton - Gillingham
Is he now officially the 'evergreen' Deon Burton? The 36-year-old was booed by Rotherham fans from the moment he took to the field after his spell in Yorkshire was ended when the striker handed in a transfer request. Burton silenced the crowd with a goal in either half, including a solo effort as Gillingham went five points clear at the top.
