Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke admits it will be a blow to lose Andy Monkhouse after the midfielder opted against renewing his contract.

Monkhouse was a regular in Clarke's side as they secured promotion back to the Football League with a play-off final win over Grimsby, but revealed on Tuesday that he would not be staying beyond his first season. The 30-year-old is keen to move closer to his base in Leeds, and Rovers boss Clarke told the club's official website: "I am disappointed that Andy has decided to leave the club but I fully understand his reasons behind it. "He has been a fantastic servant for us this season both on and off the field and he would be a great loss to any side. "I want to wish him well in the future in finding a new club and I'm sure our paths will cross again."
