Hartlepool's new signing Jake Carroll said boss Ronnie Moore was a major factor in his decision to join the club.

Left-back Carroll, 23, released by Huddersfield at the end of last season, became Pools' fifth summer signing on Friday. "I've been asking around about the club and about Ronnie Moore and everything that people told me was good," Carroll told the club's official website. "It was mainly that the club shouldn't have been in the position they were in last year. "I've heard great stuff about Ronnie too. He obviously did a great job here last season so everything I've heard has been very positive. "The big thing about coming here was that I felt wanted. "I felt like I was near the top of the gaffer's list to come here so as long as you feel that from a manager then you will want to come and sign. "He told me he has been watching me for a while and that he was desperate for me to come to Hartlepool. "He thinks I can do well here and if I work hard I think I can too."
