Cheltenham extend ground share

Cheltenham have agreed to ground share with non-league Gloucester City for another season.

The Robins have shared with the Tigers since 2010 and announced on Wednesday that the deal has been extended under improved terms. "This was a very difficult decision for us," chairman Paul Baker told the club's official website. "In an ideal world we would not have agreed to extend the arrangement due to the impact it is having on the pitch which frankly looks well past its sell by date when compared to the fantastic award-winning playing surfaces of the past. "The new deal however is a much improved one with a decent increase in the basic rent, additional rewards for extra cup matches and cup progress and only one pre-season friendly as opposed to two. "The income from the new agreement when we include matchday revenues is significant and will be a welcome additional revenue stream which is not to be sniffed at."
