Packwood heads to Cheltenham

Birmingham defender Will Packwood has joined Cheltenham on a loan deal which will run for the remainder of the campaign.

The 21-year-old United States youth international spent a month with Colchester earlier this season but only played one game having been sent off on his debut against MK Dons. Packwood has made just one appearance for Blues this term but featured more regularly at the end of the previous campaign under former manager Lee Clark. He also appeared against his new club when playing for Bristol Rovers last season. Discussing the move, boss Russell Milton told the Robins' official website: "I have been looking at the games we have coming up, with three in eight days, and I felt we needed cover in every position. "There will be some rotation and Will fits nicely into that. I have had some very good reports about him and I've seen him play a few times myself. "He is a quick, strong boy, who talks a lot for someone so young. He has played regularly for Birmingham and we now have four good centre halves with Pablo Mills, Troy Brown and Matt Taylor."
