Plymouth and Portsmouth are both in line for an award double after the clubs were nominated in the Manager and Player of the Month categories for February in Sky Bet League Two.

Argyle boss John Sheridan and forward Lewis Alessandra are up for honours, as are Portsmouth manager Andy Awford and midfielder Jed Wallace.

Bury’s Dave Flitcroft and Northampton manager Chris Wilder are competing with Sheridan and Awford for the managerial award, while veteran Dagenham & Redbridge striker Jamie Cureton and Burton Albion defender Phil Edwards are the other nominations for the players’ award.

The Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month nominees for February are...

Andy Awford (Portsmouth)

Awford guided Pompey through six unbeaten games, amassing 14 points and posting four clean sheets. The attacking mindset he has instilled was witnessed in a wonderful 6-2 win at Cambridge United.

Dave Flitcroft (Bury)

Flitcroft expertly marshalled his side into the play-off positions with clean sheets well in evidence. His team conceded just two goals in five February games which yielded three wins and two draws.

John Sheridan (Plymouth Argyle)

Four wins from five games with just three goals conceded calmed promotion nerves as Sheridan took his side back to basics for the run-in. The 3-1 Devon derby win at Exeter City also guaranteed him hero-worship status.

Chris Wilder (Northampton Town)

Another 10-point haul from five games which lifted the Cobblers closer to the play-off places. In the process they became the first visiting side to win at promotion-chasing Shrewsbury Town.

The Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month nominees for February are...

Lewis Alessandra (Plymouth Argyle)

Alessandra scored in three games on the spin, most impressively with a surging run and finish in the 2-0 victory at Wycombe Wanderers. Versatile, with quick feet and good balance, his composure in front of goal helped to reignite Argyle’s promotion push.

Jamie Cureton (Dagenham & Redbridge)

Four goals took his Football League career total to 250. At 39, he has formed a blossoming partnership with 18-year-old Alex Jakubiak and is still taking chances calmly and clinically, notably for both goals in the 2-0 win at York.

Phil Edwards (Burton Albion)

The dependable 29-year-old made important contributions at both ends as Burton moved top of League Two. Solid at the back, he used his strength in the air to score at Cheltenham Town and also contributed two assists in the month.

Jed Wallace (Portsmouth)

The livewire behind Pompey’s surge up the table, tormenting defenders with his pace and directness. Two goals in a month in which he put in a stellar performance at Cambridge United, scoring one and setting up four more in a 6-2 win.
