Shrewsbury moved to the top of the Sky Bet League 2 table after two stoppage-time goals gave them a 2-1 victory at Carlisle.

Charlie Wyke's goal looked like it would bring the Cumbrians a fourth win from the last five matches as they look to pull clear of the relegation pack.

But Mickey Demetriou headed an equaliser in the third minute of time added-on before James Collins struck to send the Shrews to the summit on goal-difference.

Mickey Mellon's men climbed above Wycombe and Burton, replacing them at the top after Albion were held to a goalless draw with AFC Wimbledon at the Pirelli Stadium.

Burton played against 10 men for much of the second half after Dons defender Mark Phillips was shown a straight red card in the 65th minute after appearing to stamp on home forward Stuart Beavon.

They could not make the numerical advantage pay, however, as they failed in their bid to record a seventh successive home league win.

Wycombe were beaten at home in the league for the first time since mid-November as first-half goals from Lewis Alessandra and Peter Hartley saw Plymouth climb into the play-off places with a 2-0 win.

Victory by the same scoreline saw in-form Southend narrow the gap on the teams in the automatic promotion positions to two points as Joe Pigott's double saw off Cheltenham, who now lie just a point above the relegation zone.

York remain in the bottom two after a dramatic 2-2 draw at Luton.

The Minstermen looked like climbing out of the drop zone after goals from Josh Carson and Emile Sinclair put them in control at Kenilworth Road but Jake Hyde's red card on 61 minutes changed the game.

Hatters substitute Mark Cullen scored twice in the next 10 minutes to bring Luton level but they also finished the game a man light after Steve McNulty was sent off on his 100th appearance for the club.

Hartlepool remain bottom of the table but they closed the gap on York to six points after Marvin Morgan's second-half strike gave them a 1-0 home win over Northampton.

Rory Donnelly's goal earned Tranmere a potentially valuable point in their survival battle as they earned a 1-1 draw at play-off contenders Newport, who needed an 83rd-minute equaliser from Mark Byrne.

David Wheeler headed an 88th-minute leveller for Exeter as the Grecians came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Cambridge at St James Park.

Robbie Simpson's strike and a Craig Woodman own goal had the U's in front but Tom Nichols halved the deficit before Wheeler salvaged a point.

Elsewhere, Accrington overcame Oxford 1-0 thanks to Terry Gornell's injury-time winner while Morecambe beat Mansfield 2-1.

All the goals came in the first half at the Globe Arena, with Paul Mullin and Kevin Ellison putting the hosts ahead before Simon Heslop pulled one back for the Stags.

The division’s other two matches both finished goalless, as Dagenham & Redbridge drew 0-0 at home with Portsmouth and Bury earned a point away to Stevenage.
