Hartlepool midfielder Nicky Featherstone has earned a contract extension at the struggling League Two club.

The 26-year-old, signed by former boss Paul Murray, saw his initial short-term deal run out at the end of December but new manager Ronnie Moore has given him a chance to prove himself, offering a contract until the end of January. "Nicky has signed for another month," Moore told the Hartlepool Mail. "We will have a look at him as back-up for the squad. "He gets in there and has a go and he will help. "But we still need a couple more in and hopefully they will be in by the time we play Cheltenham." The former Hull and Walsall man has played 11 times for Pools and started their 1-0 defeat at Wycombe on Saturday.
