Tranmere manager Micky Adams hailed Max Power's stunning strike after it earned his side a 1-0 win over Dagenham at Victoria Road.

Power had the best chance for the visitors in the first half, but he dragged wide after 22 minutes of play. Seven minutes later and Jamie Cureton had an equally good opportunity for the hosts, but scuffed past the post after Damian Batt's cutback. Marc Laird had a great chance for Rovers five minutes before the half time whistle, however Briah Saah deflected his volley over the bar. Cureton had another decent opportunity for Daggers at the start of the second period, but he headed wide following Ashley Hemmings cross. And with neither side looking like breaking the deadlock, Power produced a stunner to open the scoring in the 75th minute. Kayode Odejayi laid the ball into Power and he fired a shot into the top corner past Mark Cousins to delight the travelling fans and give his side a deserved three points. Adams was thrilled his team picked up a much needed league win and praised the matchwinner. He said: "I'm so pleased with the clean sheet, you always have to be on your toes when you're playing against the type of strikers that Dagenham have, they are a handful. "But defensively we were solid, our keeper has had no saves to make so that shows how good a performance it has been "Although I was pleased with the performance I felt we needed that little bit of quality in the final third. "If we could have got that we could have won the game and we did so as one decent move puts Max Power in and he hits a screamer. "Max should have that confidence as well. He's got the attributes that you need to achieve things to win the game. "I shouldn't be shouting it from the roof tops, I'm sure there are people watching him but he is our player and I am delighted he is because he's a special talent." Daggers assistant manager Darren Currie was extremely disappointed with defeat and the performance of his side. He said: "I thought we were poor if I am brutally honest. It was a big game for both sides and you need to beat teams in and around you, but we haven't done. "It is frustrating, we have looked a real goal threat in the last two games and then we didn't move the ball with any urgency or make the pitch big when we had the ball. "I thought it was a flat game and I didn't think Tranmere played great either, but it is certainly a missed opportunity for us because we haven't imposed ourselves on the game. "They broke on us and the lad has hit a fantastic strike. Mark is critical of himself in the changing room and doesn't want to get beat by a strike like that. "But obviously it was a great strike and it has ended up winning the game for them."
