Hartlepool United have signed defender Matteo Lanzoni on loan from Cambridge United.

The 26-year-old centre-half will stay at Victoria Park until the end of December and is expected to feature in Pools' home game against Wycombe on Saturday. Pools boss Paul Murray has moved quickly to add Lanzoni to his squad following the return of Scott Harrison to parent club Sunderland earlier in the week. Lanzoni started out at his hometown club Como before spending five years with Sampdoria and moved to England with Oldham in July 2013. He switched to Yeovil in January and arrived at Cambridge on a free transfer in the summer. Lanzoni has made three appearances for Cambridge, last featuring in the U's home defeat to Exeter in September.
