Tisdale: We're just getting going

Paul Tisdale insists Exeter are only just getting started this season after their second straight away win, beating Tranmere 2-1.

Graham Cummins had opened the scoring for City before Danny Holmes equalised for Rovers. But Jordan Moore-Taylor's stunning second-half diving header proved to be the winner as Tisdale's troops continued their recovery from a slow start to the season. "I am very pleased with the result and the manner in which we achieved it," he said. "We have won twice in a week by playing some really good football and creating lots of chances. "I think we deserved the win. We had a very slow start to the season. "The performances in the last three games probably show us the season started a month too soon as far as we were concerned. "We are only just starting our season now and the team is by no means the finished product. "We are giving ourselves a chance and we have kept our nerve which is something I am very pleased about. "The players continue to believe in what we do and there aren't many teams who would come out and play the way we have done in the last three matches when we have been bottom of the league. "We played with real belief and quality and it is a start. There is a character and resilience to the way we played. "We deserved a second goal and I don't think anyone would argue too much with that." The visitors took a sixth-minute lead when David Wheeler's cheeky lob was only palmed goalwards by the stranded Owain Fon Williams for Cummins to head home. But Holmes' deflected shot found the bottom corner from the edge of the box to pull Rovers level on 25 minutes. Tranmere were made to pay when Moore-Taylor's spectacular 69th-minute diving header went in off the underside of the crossbar. Tranmere boss Rob Edwards said: "I thought the younger players were shining lights in taking the game to Exeter and being brave. "I am disappointed that the club isn't winning games. We need to be winning more and the players and myself have to do better. "I am hugely disappointed with the performance. "Exeter played very well and they were a threat throughout. "They were putting a lot of crosses in our box and we struggled. "We looked weak in the final third. In the last two games we played well and didn't score and we put that down to bad luck. "But we weren't unlucky in this one. We were poor and had no punch and we need to look at that because there is lots of work to do. "I am hugely frustrated. We are struggling to create much and work opposition goalkeepers at the moment. "I thought we would have too much for Exeter in terms of the chances I thought we'd create but it just didn't happen."
