Exeter have confirmed that former Preston striker Graham Cummins has joined the club on trial.

The 26-year-old, released by North End this summer, is training with the Grecians with the view to earning a permanent deal once the club's transfer embargo is lifted. "He is training with us and he is putting himself in a situation where, should the embargo be lifted, he is available," boss Paul Tisdale told the Express & Echo. "It is doing him no harm because he is keeping himself fit and he is a player ordinarily we would look at because he is at a good age and he is a strong, athletic striker with lots of ambition and determination. "He would fit us at the moment, but I'm not in a position to follow through on anything." City took a £100,000 loan from the PFA in May but hope they will be able to pay off that debt in the opening weeks of the season and be able to sign players again. "I would hope that we have it paid off before the end of August," Tisdale, who also has former Bristol City defender Christian Ribeiro on trial, revealed. "I'm hoping during August, when the turnstiles start turning again and the season starts, then we will have a chance to generate the cash flow to pay back the loan, but I don't expect anything to happen before August 9."
