Ainsworth hails Wycombe fans

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth has thanked the club's supporters for sticking by him during their long winless run.

Heading into last Saturday's clash with Chesterfield the Blues had not won a match since December 21, a run of nine games. But successive 1-0 wins over the League Two leaders and then away at Exeter have reignited their season and Ainsworth paid tribute to the Wycombe faithful for their loyalty after moving five points clear of the relegation zone. "The fans are brilliant," he explained. "I see the familiar faces and the ones it really means something to. "They are really behind me and I can't thank them enough for sticking by me, because I was on a really bad run but the board, the players and everyone was always behind me. "No one ever doubted what we could do and now we are proving it. "But let's not get carried away, that is two wins but we need a few more to be safe in this league. It is another bunfight but I know I have enough to get out of this."
