Hill delighted with Dale win

Rochdale manager Keith Hill was delighted with his side as they maintained their push for promotion with a narrow 1-0 win at Exeter.

Jamie Allen scored the only goal of the game on the stroke of half time as he capitalised on some poor defending to lash in, while Exeter showed little in a second half where Matthew Lund came close to adding to Dale's lead only for his shot to hit the inside of the post. "I have been delighted for a long time. It was very good," Hill said. "There were two good sides who play football in the right manner, and trying to develop players while trying to be successful on the pitch. "I don't look too closely at the league table. I don't want to create any pressure, there shouldn't be any pressure. "I said to one of the directors before the game, the club has spent 98 years of its 104-year history in League Two so there should be no pressure. "We are really enjoying our football and enjoying days like this. The players were prepared to go through a big wall in pursuit of that result and they were excellent. "If I am being honest at half-time we could have been 3-1 up. In the second half they laid siege to our box but we defended our penalty area really well and we had some good opportunities on the counter-attack. "Sometimes those games can go against you, but we have managed the game really well with and without the ball. I thought we showed good energy and we are looking forward to next weekend already."
