Aston Villa forward Michael Drennan has moved to Portsmouth on a one-month youth loan, subject to Football League approval.
Drennan, a Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, has just returned from a spell at League One side Carlisle United, where he made six appearances.
The 20-year-old striker scored six times in 11 appearances for Villa U21s, including a stunning hat-trick at Sunderland in February.
Drennan was a star performer for Villa when they were crowned the best youth team in Europe after winning the NextGen Series last season. The Irishman finished as the competition's second highest scorer with six goals.
