Scunthorpe chairman Peter Swann feels this weekend's clash with Chesterfield "could be a huge turning point" in the club's season.
Swann, who took control at Glanford Park last summer following Steve Wharton's retirement, said Iron fans had been craving for such matches following relegation last season. "If you had said to me at the beginning of November, or even earlier, that we would be playing in a top-of-the-table match in the second week of February, I would have been delighted," said Swann, who sacked former boss Brian Laws in November. Scunthorpe have embarked on a 13-game unbeaten run under new manager Russ Wilcox and Swann added on the club's official website: "These are the games you wanted back, not the mid-table or relegation matches, but important, competitive and exciting games. "I'm delighted where we are in the league and really pleased with the attitude and effort of our players and management to get us here and not forgetting your valued support, which on Saturday could make a huge difference to the team. "Here's hoping we can have the largest crowd of the season, at what could be a huge turning point for us on Saturday." Second-placed Scunthorpe currently trail leaders Chesterfield by three points.
