Chesterfield duo Paul Cook and Gary Roberts are both in contention for Sky Bet League Two monthly awards for January.
Cook's Spireites currently top the table by three points following their 3-1 home win over Bristol Rovers at the weekend.
But it is the Derbyshire club's exploits last month which has earned their manager and also winger Roberts place amongst the latest batch of contenders.
Also boasting a brace of nominations are Fleetwood Town, whose boss Graham Alexander and striker Jon Parkin are in the running.
The Manager of the Month shortlist is completed by Southend's Phil Brown and Scunthorpe's Russ Wilcox, while John-Joe O'Toole (Bristol Rovers) and Ryan Clarke (Oxford United) are included in the Player of the Month line-up.
The judging panel comprises Sky Sports' Football League expert Don Goodman, the Football League's Head of Communications John Nagle, League Managers' Association director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet's Head of Football Paul Wiggins.
The winners will be announced on Friday morning.
Here, Sky Sports considers more closely the managers in contention.
Graham Alexander (Fleetwood Town)
Alexander's side rediscovered its attacking flair and zest in picking up 13 points from a possible 15 in January, which included a thrilling 4-2 win at fellow promotion chasers Burton Albion, to climb into the automatic promotion places.
Phil Brown (Southend United)
Brown enjoyed a busy month, guiding Southend through league and cup commitments. They gained nine points from five unbeaten League Two games, the highlight being an emphatic 3-0 win over fellow promotion chasers Chesterfield.
Paul Cook (Chesterfield)
Cook led his side to top spot in the division as they earned three wins and a draw in five games, scoring 11 goals in the process. The Spireites boss stayed calm during the early winter months and now has his players believing in themselves again.
Russ Wilcox (Scunthorpe United)
Wilcox continued his remarkable start to management in January. His calm approach inspired Scunthorpe to two wins, three draws and four clean sheets from five games and reinforced their position in the automatic promotion places.
Sky Sports also takes a look at those in the mix to be named Player of the Month.
Ryan Clarke (Oxford United)
The U's goalkeeper posted an unblemished record during January, with clean sheets in each of his side's four games. The 31-year-old organised his defence superbly and pulled off a number of saves, none better than an acrobatic stop which earned a point at Exeter City.
John-Joe O'Toole (Bristol Rovers)
Three goals in four games earned a nomination for the attack-minded midfielder, who has been given licence to go forward. The 25-year-old's all-action displays during January were highlighted by a 90th-minute volleyed winner against West Country rivals Exeter.
Jon Parkin (Fleetwood Town)
Having worked hard to get over a hamstring injury, the veteran striker has allied fitness to his natural strength. His clever hold-up play was supplemented with clinically-taken goals in wins over Accrington Stanley, Hartlepool United and Burton Albion.
Gary Roberts (Chesterfield)
Roberts re-discovered his early season form to inspire Chesterfield's charge to the top of the table. The winger offered a creative spark and scored in four separate games, including a delightfully-hooked lob in the 3-1 win at Northampton Town.
