Danny Nardiello has signed an 18-month deal at Bury, with the option of another year.
The 31-year-old striker joined the Shakers on loan from Rotherham in November and was quickly off the mark, scoring against Hartlepool at the end of the month.
He has now scored five goals for the club this season, and manager David Flitcroft sees Nardiello as an important figure.
Flitcroft told the club's official website: "I think it shows our intent, with the signings of Jim McNulty and now Danny Nardiello, they are both similar players and Danny can spearhead our attack.
"He is the right sort of player, the right professional and after meeting his family it was just the right thing to do.
"He enjoys it here and he enjoys his football here. He scores goals and he will scores goals for us.
"He will be coaching in the academy as well, he will pass on that knowledge and that's important for us as a club. He's a big part of where we want to go."
