Cardoza: Plenty going on

Northampton chairman David Cardoza insists there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes as the wait for a new manager continues.

Caretaker boss Andy King is set to take charge of the Cobblers for a fifth time on Saturday for the crunch clash against fellow League Two strugglers Torquay - four weeks after the sacking of Aidy Boothroyd on December 21. Cobblers fans are growing increasingly concerned at the length of time taken to appoint a new manager as the club battle for their Football League survival, but Cardoza has moved to reassure supporters. "I would like to say the search goes on but we're waiting at the minute for one or two situations to unfold and then we'll have more to say," he told the club's official website. "Things will become clearer in due course. "My message to supporters is certainly, very sorry things have been quiet for a few days but I absolutely guarantee there's a lot going on behind the scenes. "I've been here 11 years, fans might not always agree with all my decisions but they know they can trust me. I will always deliver and I'm doing everything I can to get us to that point. "I know we're bottom of the Football League, we've got 21 games left, we're going to turn it around and make sure that whatever decision gets made is the right one to take the club forward. "I said two years ago that we'd never be in this position again but we won't be after this, but I've got to get it right and I just want everyone to stick with me, stick with the club until we get through this stage and then move on. "There's a massive amount of work going on and we're in a waiting pattern until one or two things happen but we'll get it sorted."
