AFC Wimbledon new-boy Aaron Morris put himself in the frame for a start at Scunthorpe on Saturday after playing an hour for the reserves.
Former Aldershot defender Morris, who joined the Dons as a free agent last week, got some valuable game time under his belt in a 2-1 defeat by Portsmouth.
Winger Chris Arthur and striker Charlie Sheringham also played to boost their fitness following recent injury lay-offs.
Under-21 coach Shaun North told the club website: "The real positive was that our first-team players had a good work-out.
"Aaron is a bit rusty as he was out for a while with injury, but he got better and better as the game went on."
Harry Cooksley scored the Dons' goal from the penalty spot.
