Dagenham manager Wayne Burnett could not hide his disappointment with his side's 2-1 loss at Oxford.
A spectacular overhead kick from James Constable in the eighth minute was cancelled out by Rhys Murphy on the stroke of half time, before Dave Kitson's header in injury time broke Dagenham hearts.
"It was a very tough game, they have got some very good players and overall they probably deserved to beat us in all honesty," he said.
"We didn't really get too much in their half and they got the ball forward and created a few chances.
"We were behind after 10 minutes, and it was sloppy defending and I felt at times they were outmuscling us a little bit and a little bit quicker to the ball.
"But we got better as the half went on and we took a fantastic, well worked goal from Rhys Murphy and in the second half we didn't really get going.
"It was a little bit bitty at times and we needed to get in their half a little bit more and we didn't. We worked so so hard, and to come so far that's the disappointing thing.
"As I say, I don't think we deserved to win the game, but coming so far and they scored in the 91st minute, and it's hard to take."
