Jepson rues missed chances

Bury manager Ronnie Jepson could not believe his side did not emerge from their game at Exeter with a win after their 2-2 draw.

Former Exeter striker Daniel Nardiello opened the scoring for the Shakers in the 15th minute, but David Wheeler levelled with his first goal in professional football four minutes before half-time. Nathan Cameron's thumping header put Bury back in front, but Tom Nichols rescued a point for Exeter 13 minutes from time. "It is impossible to create that many chances and not win a game," Jepson said. "The game should have been out of sight by half time. We have had four or five good opportunities and created chance after chance. "Maybe before the game I would have taken a point. But you can see the effort the boys are putting in and we are just getting undone by little things. "If we can eradicate those basic defensive errors we will be a decent team. The fans have been fantastic and they must have been pleased with that performance. "We don't come away from home and go 4-5-1 and shut up shop, we come here 4-4-2 this is us and we are having a go. We want to win the game and that is the way we approached the game. "I have said to the lads that I am not going to knock them, they are creating chances and trying to get on the end of them. They are not going in at the moment but they will do because we are doing the right thing. "Exeter were hanging on at the end. We want to win games and I thought the lads deserved three points.. We could have had six or seven and that is not being disrespectful towards Exeter. We dust ourselves down, we got a point and we will go again."
